Guwahati is a sprawling city beside the Brahmaputra River in the northeast Indian state of Assam. It’s known for holy sites like the hilltop Kamakhya Temple, featuring shrines to the Hindu deities Shiva and Vishnu. To the east, 18th-century Navagraha Temple is an astronomical center with planetary shrines. Umananda Temple, dedicated to Shiva and covered with engravings, stands on Peacock Island in the river. Cherrapunjee, also known as Sohra, is a high-altitude town in the northeast Indian state of Meghalaya. It's known for its living root bridges, made from rubber trees. To the northeast, Mawkdok Dympep Valley View Point overlooks verdant gorges. In the surrounding hills, the Noh-Kalikai, Dain-Thlen and Kynrem waterfalls plunge from forested clifftops. South of town, Mawsmai Cave is illuminated to show its stalagmites. Shillong is a hill station in northeast India and capital of the state of Meghalaya. It’s known for the manicured gardens at Lady Hydari Park. Nearby, Ward’s Lake is surrounded by walking trails. North, the Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures features displays on the region’s native people. Waterfalls include the Elephant Falls to the southwest. East of here, forested Shillong Peak offers city views. Bhalukpung is a small town located along the southern reaches of the Himalayas in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh in India. The town is located at 213m above sea level, 100 km from Bomdila, 52 km from Tezpur and 5 km from Tipi. It lies along the Kameng river and is the headquarters of Bhalukpung circle. Tawang is a town in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh, situated at an elevation of approximately 3,048 metres to the east of Bhutan. The town once served as the district headquarters of West Kameng district, and became the district headquarters of Tawang district when it was formed from West Kameng.Travel to India and Explore the North Eastern part of India like never before.

     Arrive Guwahati before Noon

     Meeting and assistance on arrival at Guwahati airport.

     Transfer to Hotel and check-in. Guwahati is a fast-growing premier city and it is also the gateway to the North Eastern states of India. This city subsequently got the name Guwahati ( Guwa – means beetle nut and Hat – means market in Assamese).

     Post lunch visit to Sualkuchi situated on the north bank of the river Brahmaputra, about 35 km from Guwahati. It has large number of cottage industry engaged in handloom, for which it is also known as the "Manchester of Assam".

     Later in the evening go for the river cruise on Mighty Brahmaputra river.

    Guwahati – Shillong - Cherrapunji.(150kms/5hrs)

     After breakfast check-out hotel and transfer to Cherrapunji(1300mts) en-route visiting Umiam Lake or Barapani – which is the biggest artificial lake in Meghalaya, Elephant Falls, Nohkalikai Falls, Seven Sister Falls and Mawsmai cave. High above misty valleys and foaming rivers, ensconced in swirling clouds and perched on an escarpment, lies Cherrapunji (4,500 feet). This is a stunning location and the year-round rain earned Cherrapunji coveted entry long ago into the Guinness Book of World Records as the wettest place on earth, the place where the rainfall can be recorded in feet rather than in millimeters. Cherrapunjee, also known as Sohra, is a high-altitude town in the northeast Indian state of Meghalaya. It's known for its living root bridges, made from rubber trees.

     The Caves of Cherrapunjee - Mawsmai and Mawmluh, are the longest limestone caves in India, formed over 3500 years, a must go destination for cavers and adventurists.

    Cherrapunji (Local sightseeing)

     Enjoy Breakfast at hotel Cherrapunjee, (1300 m) and its surroundings areas are blessed with many breathtaking views of nature in her pristine beauty with cool springs, mind soothing waves of thick green jungle foliage, gurgling mountain streams finding their way through rocks, enthralling milky white waterfalls leaping into deep gorges in a thunderous applause to the record-breaking rainfall that resounds through the valley. During the monsoon months it is a thrill to catch sight of nature in the prime of her beauty when the clouds lift their mantle over her for fleeting moments.

     After breakfast we get ready for a half day trek to visit the Double Decker Living Root Bridge deep inside the jungle. It will take 3 to 4 hrs (depending on the physical fitness of the person). You can enjoy picnic lunch there after getting refreshed with spring water under the living root bridge.

     Return to your accommodation in late afternoon

    Cherrapunji – Shillong en-route visiting Dawki (170kms/5.5hrs)

     After early breakfast check-out and head to a small quaint little village – Mawlynnong, “Asia’s Cleanest Village”. Mawlynnong offers many interesting sights such as the living root bridge and another strange natural phenomenon of a boulder balancing on another small rock.

     Later drive to Dawki also known as Dauki, is a little town located in west Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya, India. This town is a must visit destination for travelers and nature lovers. Dawki is located on the border between India and Bangladesh. It is really hard to ignore the crystal clear water of the Umngot River of this town. Boat ride in this pristine river is a major tourist attraction. Travelers enjoy being part of this magnificent scenery and enjoy nearby sights and sounds.     Shillong – Bhalukpong (320kms / 7hrs)

     After breakfast check out from hotel and proceed to Bhalukpong, located at the altitude 213 mts, and which is the entry point to Arunachal. It is famous for Archaeological ruins of King Bhaluka, an ancient ruler of the region. The Orchid Research Centre at Tipi with 500 species of Orchid is the pride of Bhalukpong.

    Bhalukpong – Dirang (140kms/5hrs)

     After breakfast check out from hotel and proceed to Dirang which is a beautiful small town situated at an altitude of 2700 mts and at distance of approx. 140km from Bhalukpong. On the way visit Tipi Orchidarium situated on the banks of the river Bharali, a place over 500 orchids, on display and there are some rare species of orchid. Arunachal has largest range of orchids in the country. Then take a break to visit Nag Temple. Continue your drive and do not forget to keep your cameras handy as you cross beautiful waterfalls and get some spectacular views.

     Arrive and check-in at hotel.

     Afternoon visit Apple orchard & Kiwi Farm (depending upon season), Dirang Monastery and Kalachakra Monastery. Dirang is also famous for hot water springs where people take bath to cure skin ailments.

    Dirang – Tawang (130kms/5hrs)

     Today after breakfast check out from hotel you will transfer to Tawang which is at an altitude of 3500mts. Tawang - It is a land of Monpa Tribe. People’s interpretation is that the name Tawang was given by Mera Lama in the 17th Century. It is famous for the oldest seat of Mahayana Buddhism and is around 400 years old. This is the second largest Monastery in Asia and the largest one of its kind in the Country which controls 17 Gompas in the region. The most imposing part of the Monastery is the three storied assembly hall which houses the temple and the 28ft high Golden statue of Buddha.

     Enroute you will be visit the Selapass: Sela Pass, with a height of 13,714 ft, is one of the most visited places in entire Arunachal Pradesh. Before reaching this pass, the travellers are welcomed by another lake, which is known as the Paradise Lake. On the way enjoy the beauty the lake which is located in the border line between two districts i.e Tawang & West KamengTawang, Sela Lake a small lake, which remains frozen for most of the year. Further drive to 10 kms visit Jaswantgarh War Memorial - a memorial to the brave soldier who single handily tried to hold of approaching Chinese from the pass during the 1962 Indo-Chinese war. Later visit majesty of Nuranng Falls where scenes from the SRK-Madhuri Dixit starrer “Koyla” were shot.

     After breakfast visit for full day Tawang sightseeing which includes : Tawang Monastery : Tawang Monastery, also Known as the Golden Namgyal Lhatse is one of the largest lamaseries of Mahayana sects. This is the second oldest Monestery in the entire world after Lhasa. With a control over 17 Gompas in the region, the monastery is believed to be 400 years old. War Memorial : Tawang War Memorial, a 40 foot high multi – hued memorial, has a structure constructed in stupa design. Dedicated to the martyrs of Sino – India War held in 1962, this memorial is nestled among beautiful peaks, which overlooks the Tawang – Chu valley. Popularly known as Namgyal Chorten the memorial has names of 2,420 dead soldiers.

     Today morning after breakfast you will be transferred to Nimati Ghaat from where it will be a unique experience to cross the mighty Brahmaputra to reach one of the largest riverine island of the world- Majuli. (1.5 Hrs approx. local Boat Journey)

     On arrival, enjoy the island excursion to Satras, pottery village, mask village etc.

     Evening cruise back to Jorhat. (1 to 1.5 Hrs by local Boat)

    Jorhat – Guwahati Airport (325 Kms / 8 Hrs)

     Today after breakfast you will be transferred to Jorhat / Guwahati airport.

     Board flight to Delhi/Kolkata/Mumbai/Bengaluru to connect your onward destination.

    NOTE : Jorhat has limited flight connectivity and is restricted to weather and standard flight load. Alternatively one can reach Guwahati(325kms/8hrs) and take a flight departing post 1600hrs.A de-tour also can be done at Kaziranga forest(famous for 01 horn Rhino) for 01 extra night which lie almost mid-way between Jorhat and Kaziranga before reaching Guwahati.Jorhat can be skipped and replaced with Kaziranga if travel period is within 15th October to 30th April.
