Mamallapuram, or Mahabalipuram, is a town on a strip of land between the Bay of Bengal and the Great Salt Lake, in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It’s known for its temples and monuments built by the Pallava dynasty in the 7th and 8th centuries. The seafront Shore Temple comprises 3 ornate granite shrines. Krishna’s Butter Ball is a massive boulder balanced on a small hill near the Ganesha Ratha stone temple.Pondicherry (or Puducherry), a French colonial settlement in India until 1954, is now a Union Territory town bounded by the southeastern Tamil Nadu state. Its French legacy is preserved in its French Quarter, with tree-lined streets, mustard-colored colonial villas and chic boutiques. A seaside promenade runs along the Bay of Bengal and passes several statues, including a 4m-high Gandhi Memorial.

    ARRIVE Chennai - Mahabalipuram (By surface: 60 Kms/ Approx 1 Hour 30 mins)

     Arrive directly by International connection to Chennai Airport around early morning. Alternatively you can arrive by domestic Airline from Delhi/Mumbai/Kolkata/Bengaluru/Hyderabad pre-noon.

     Meeting and assistance on arrival at Chennai airport. Complete Immigration (if arriving directly by International connection) and transfer to the Mahabalipuram

     Check-in, freshen-up and relax to beat the jetlag.

     Evening at leisure.

    Mahabalipuram (Excursion to Kanchipuram)

     Post Breakfast short excursion to Kanchipuram(01 hour 30 mins one way travel) Kanchipuram, also known as Kanchi, is an ancient city in southern India’s Tamil Nadu state. Considered a holy pilgrimage site by Hindus, it is home to many temples. The 8th-century Kailasanathar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is a vast complex with intricate sandstone carvings. Ulagalanda Perumal Temple houses a huge statue of Lord Vishnu. A mango tree in the Ekambareswarar Temple courtyard is thought to be sacred.

     Return to Mahabalipuram and Lunch at restaurant/hotel.

     Post lunch visit to the famous Shore temple of Mahabalipuram.      Visit the Sri Aurobindo hermitage and The Auroville. Auroville is an experimental community in southern India. It was founded in 1968 by the spiritual leader - Mirra Alfassa who was also the collaborator of Sri Aurobindo, as a town where people from all over the world could live in peace and progressive harmony, above all creeds, all politics and all nationalities. Its focal point is the Matrimandir, a futuristic, spherical temple covered in gold discs. The purpose of Auroville is to realize human unity.
